Graduation 2007

Graduation 2007

After 17 years of schooling life, I have finally graduated. I wish to share my joy and excitement with everyone who drops in to view the blog.

It’s the day so many of us have been waiting for and when it came there was so much excitement and happiness mixed with pangs of sadness. Happy and excited because we worked so hard throughout the years to make it this far-although a Bachelor’s degree isn’t anything great but then it still has some worth isn’t it? Sad is because we are about to leave a life that we have been leading for the past 17 years-the life of being a student. The life is listening and behaving around a school bell; the life is reporting to class and staying awake throughout; the life is writting endless essays and papers and doing tons of readings one after another. This is the life that we will part for now.

During the ceremony, there was so much excitement and joy in everyone’s faces. A lot of international students had their parents fly all the way to SG just to attend Commencement. It’s just plain exciting and I really don’t know what words can describe the feeling.

Looking back, SMU gave me a new life.

All along I have not been very good with people relationships at school. But as I came to SMU, things changed and I started having really good friends. Friends like Maha (who’s almost a half sister to me) and my all-time fav buddy Kokwee and my ‘client’ Ken Wee and gangster lord Bruce Chin…and so many more. They leave me good memories and I miss them.

And the profs haha what can I say of them? They are all magicians and genies and wizards and witches. They can transform us from rowdy kids into thinking adults. And try to bear with us while we play lan games in class or sleep and doze off and snore in the seminar rooms. Or stroll our way back into class after break or request for extension after extension for paper submission. Their job is pretty tough lah. They have to come up with exciting and interesting classes and yet teach so many stuff in just 3 hours of class and let us have breaks and stand and animate and dance and sing and teach foreign languages. They are just amazing. Simply too lovely. I could cuddle you all!

Finally, as I leave SMU as a student and come back as Alumni, I wanna wish SMU well in the future path in nurturing more talents and empowering students to be different. I wish all my Professors best of luck in their research work so that they may succeed in whatever areas they are researching in and also maintain a sane mind. Finally, I wish all my fellow coursemates everlasting success in all future endeavours.

We are ready? We are ready!
